Becky Lynch has stated that she “could be” leaving WWE after her current contract with the company comes to an end.
Lynch’s previous WWE contract expired in May 2024, at which point she took a nearly year long break before returning at WrestleMania 41 a year ago from now.
At WrestleMania 42, she now challenges AJ Lee for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship after Lee beat her for the title at Elimination Chamber.

In a new interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Van Vliet asked Lynch about previous comments in which she said this current contract would be her last, with Lynch refuting that she said it with that much certainty and it’s just a “might” or “could” be her last.
She explained:
“I mean, I didn’t say it with such assuredness as you did, right? I said it’s probably my last one. I think I said this is likely my last one.
“That’s not a sure (thing), but, yeah, no, it might be, could be.”
When asked why she has that belief, she replied:
“I don’t know, it could be longer, but you never want to outstay your welcome. Although, I’m in my prime, I can go, plenty left in the tank.
“But I also have my daughter at home, and maybe I’ll want another one, and at some point, you have to just be happy with what you’ve done.
“But again, the love of what I do, that’s not going anywhere, but there’s a lot that goes in, around it and behind it.
“I suppose you never want to just leave spinning your wheels. You always want to move up.
“But again, that’s also not true, because sometimes I just go, ‘What do I want to do? What would I think is fun? Maybe nobody else will, but this is what I want to do, and this is what I’m happy doing.'”
When asked what it is she wants to do, Lynch responded by saying she wants to tell stories, but also elevate women to the main event picture once again, as she feels that has worn off a little bit over the past few years.
The Impact Of Becky Lynch On WWE
Becky Lynch is one of only five women in history to main event WrestleMania – and she did so with a win against Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey when the event was still only one night.
That alone speaks to the fact she’s at a rare level when it comes to the women’s roster, and with Rousey and Sasha Banks (Mercedes Mone) no longer with WWE, Lynch, Flair and Bianca Belair are the only ones there with that level of invaluable experience who could pass on their Mania main event involvement and how to handle it to those who will be in that position in the future,
It was very noticeable in 2024 and early 2025 when Lynch was away from WWE that there was a void left behind that she had been filling.
WWE is undoubtedly a better place for both fans and talent when Lynch is around.
