Seth Rollins Addresses Challenging Winner Of CM Punk Vs. Roman Reigns For WWE World Heavyweight Championship, ‘It Depends On How I Perform On Saturday’ WWE

Seth Rollins has addressed potentially challenging the winner of CM Punk and Roman Reigns’ World Heavyweight Championship match at WWE WrestleMania 42.

In what will be his first match since suffering a torn rotator cuff back at WWE Crown Jewel in October, Seth Rollins will challenge “The Ring General” GUNTHER at WrestleMania 42 Night One this Saturday (April 18).

While Rollins’ primary focus since his return at Elimination Chamber 2026 has been on taking down his former faction The Vision, he did state during his injury absence that he will aiming to reclaim the World Heavyweight Championship that he was forced to relinquish when he suffered his injury in October.

During an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up, Rollins said he’d love to challenge the winner of CM Punk and Roman Reigns’ WrestleMania 42 Night Two main event this Sunday, but doing so will “really depend” on his own performance against GUNTHER the night before:

“I’d love to say yes, I’d love to say absolutely, but it really depends. It depends on how I perform on Saturday.

“If I come out and I’m not the man that I was, I’m not the performer that I was, then I’ve got to work my way back into title contention.

“Now, it pains me a little bit to see these two guys going at it in the main event, Roman Reigns and CM Punk, for my World Title, but I’ve gotta be honest with myself and where I’m at in my career coming back from an injury, and I’ve gotta do everything I can to get myself in that position.

“If I come out and have a banger and I’m back into form, then I’ll be waiting on the other side of this thing for sure.”

GUNTHER Or Seth Rollins, Who Will Be Closer To Reclaiming The World Heavyweight Title After WrestleMania 42?

Before CM Punk Seth Rollins and GUNTHER were the two most recent holders of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and this Saturday’s match between the two could prove to be important in determining CM Punk or Roman Reigns’ challenger after WrestleMania 42.

While Rollins has the history with both Reigns and Punk, and could easily slot in as either star’s first challenger after this weekend’s premium live event, Bron Breakker’s potentially imminent return may keep Rollins instead.

As for GUNTHER, he’s shifted his focus away from championships and onto retiring as many legends as possible.

While Rollins bucks this trend, the favor he’s due to be owed by Paul Heyman may eventually lead to him ticking another major name off of his hit list: Brock Lesnar.

With Lesnar reportedly nearing retirement, perhaps a major retirement match at WWE SummerSlam 2026 could be on the cards.
