WWE Star Nia Jax Calls Out Tom Brady; Calls Him ‘Fake’ After NFL ‘Deflategate’ Controversy WWE

One-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Nia Jax had plenty to say about Tom Brady and Deflategate after his past “cute” comments.

Recently, Tom Brady has been less-than-complimentary about the athleticism of WWE stars, calling the standard that they hold themselves to “cute”.

A number of WWE stars would respond to Brady’s comments, with some suggesting that he might want to step into the ring.

When asked for their one-word answer if Brady doesn’t show up at WrestleMania 42 during a media row appearance with SI, the champions would proffer:

Legend: “Coward.”

Jax: “Botox.”

Legend would be reduced to laughter by Jax’s comment, which also temporarily silenced the interviewer, as he went on to explain:

“The people who know, know. A little botox, a little filler, a little nipple tuck.

“Wants to call us fake? Wants to call us fake? We clocked your fakeness a long time ago.

“And, let’s not talk about how they changed the rules to make you look better in the NFL. Deflategate. Deflategate.”

It was previously reported that WWE was ‘in negotiations‘ with Tom Brady for an appearance at WrestleMania 42.

For those unfamiliar, Tom Brady was involved in the Deflategate controversy in 2015, which saw allegations that he ordered the footballs used by the New England Patriots to be deflated during their game against the Indianapolis Colts. Suspended for four games as a result, the quarterback’s team would also be fined $1m and had to forfeit two draft picks the following year.

Cute? Fake? There’s Words For What WWE Does

Brady suggesting that WWE stars are not on the level of athleticism as other fields is just part of the ongoing discourse that has also recently seen Dominik Mysterio address people who call wrestling “fake”.

As with Mysterio’s recent suggestion that the naysayers should give it a go by putting on an episode of a WWE show, the same ran through in comments aimed at Brady, with stars commenting that, perhaps, he should be the one to get in the ring.

At the end of the day, wrestling is a form of entertainment, whether it be in WWE, AEW or beyond. It’s been a long time since any star has completely denied that elements are scripted, and it should be rather obvious to the savvy audience that slapping a colleague around the face is likely to land you with more than just a match at the next show if you were to do it in real life.

Even in media interviews such as the Sports Illustrated one with Jax and Legend, there’s a degree of respect between the journalist and the subjects, all of whom are clearly aware of what’s going on, without any pantomime nods to the camera.

Predetermined as it may be, scripted as it may be, there’s no denying that WWE stars, as with wrestlers in any other televised company or independent promotion, are trained athletes, and that it isn’t a job for anyone who fancies having a go without a degree of training.
