CM Punk may have just made a public tease about his next move as he made an appearance last night for Cage Fury Fighting Championships.
While fans online went into a tizzy over CM Punk being spotted in Orlando over the past few days, the sightings had a very reasonable explanation.
CM Punk resumed his role on commentary for Cage Fury Fighting Championships event in Florida and his co-host couldn’t help but poke a little fun at the rumors of Punk potentially return to WWE.
In the introduction, noting that CFFC had CM Punk back on commentary, he also said “He may be going to another promotion,” to which they laughed.
For his part, CM Punk swerved the reference by name dropping ‘Anthony Pettis Fighting Championship’ saying they have an event coming up in November so his co-host was right.
Actually Punk was not joking; APFC 9 is indeed set for November 19th at 2pm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
At any rate, CM Punk seems to be having a little fun with the situation.
This is far from the first time the CFFC commentary team has had fun with Punk’s situation, as he’d said a few weeks ago that he “had some time on his hands” until November, which is what really kickstarted fan rumors that he may have been teasing a WWE return at Survivor Series in his hometown of Chicago.
Punk’s co-host also recently seemingly poked fun at Tony Khan saying he ‘feared for his life’ when describing the incident at Wembley that took place before Punk was fired.
Recent reports have indicated that Punk wanted to return to WWE, but the company has turned him down for now – click here for the latest update.
