Cody Rhodes Reveals Whereabouts Of WWE’s ‘Oval’ Intercontinental Championship WWE

12 years ago today (October 2), Cody Rhodes unveiled the new white strapped Intercontinental Championship title at the Hell In A Cell event.

Rhodes retired the former ‘oval’ design of the title that was introduced during the Attitude Era, and he has now discussed the whereabouts of the iconic design.

Taking to Twitter, Cody responded to the anniversary of the segment, where he revealed that the oval design is now owned by his daughter Liberty after he originally gave it to his father, Dusty Rhodes.

He said:

Fun fact gave the oval design to Dusty

Then WWE needed it back for an exhibit, but Ben Brown just recently returned it to me – it’s Libby’s now

Cody is currently involved in an ongoing storyline with Jey Uso on WWE Raw.

The white Intercontinental Championship design was retired in 2019, when Sami Zayn present the current design of the belt to Shinsuke Nakamura on SmackDown in November of that year.

The current champion, Gunther, will have a contract signing for a championship match against Tommaso Ciampa on tonight’s WWE Raw.

Gunther recently defeated Chad Gable to retain the title and become the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history.
