AEW
Tony Khan has addressed Darby Allin winning the AEW World Champion, with Allin now representing the company as its top titleholder.
After earning an AEW World Championship match at Dynasty, Allin went on to defeat MJF for the AEW Championship in two minutes on the April 15 Dynamite Spring BreakThru show.
Speaking with Good Karma Wrestling, Tony Khan praised Allin as a daredevil both inside and away from the ring, stating:
“Since before the very first episode of Dynamite, Darby Allin has been with AEW, since our first year. He challenged for that world title in the first world title match ever on Wednesday Night Dynamite.
“He has been a great TNT Champion, he has been a great World Tag Team Champion with his mentor, Sting. They formed an undefeated team that was the most successful tag team in the history of AEW, and one of the most successful teams ever, undefeated throughout their run and Sting retired as Darby Allin’s tag team partner, undefeated in AEW and as the World Tag Team Champion.
“Darby himself as a singles wrestler had never been the world champion until now, and he is on fire, doing great, great things, having great, great matches. A great representative for the sport, the first man in pro-wrestling history to climb Mount Everest.
“He’s done so many amazing things, and he’s a daredevil outside the ring, around the ring and inside the ring. Darby Allin is a very special champion and it meant a lot for him to win the world title from a great champion in MJF.”

Tony Khan calling Darby Allin a daredevil seems pretty apt, with Allin already having performed a stunt while wearing the AEW World Championship belt.
Following title defenses on Dynamite against Tommaso Ciampa and Brody King, Darby Allin will put his AEW World Championship on the line against Kevin Knight on the May 6 Dynamite episode.
With Tony Khan stating that Knight – and another AEW star – have everything it takes to be a world champion in the future, the AEW boss appears to be high on the current TNT Champion ahead of the upcoming AEW World Championship match.
With Khan showering praise on both stars as world championship-calibre, Allin vs Knight will be a showcase of the type of main event we will see more of in AEW moving forward.
