Drew McIntyre has shared throwback photos and a humorous emoji following the recent departure of Sheamus from WWE.

It was recently reported that Sheamus was set to leave WWE after the expiration of his contract, having initially signed with the company back in 2007.

Having turned down a contract extension offer, the nineteen-year career of the WWE star comes to an end, with rival/friend Drew McIntyre sharing a post to celebrate their time together.

The post, which was shared on Twitter, saw McIntyre post two photos, one from very early in their respective careers and the other from their three-way with GUNTHER at WrestleMania 39, along with an emoji caption, reading:

“🍀🍔”

The shamrock is the national emblem of Ireland, the home country of Sheamus, while the burger emoji could be a reference to a past promo that McIntyre delivered.

In April 2024, McIntyre noted that Sheamus had gone from “banger after banger after banger” to “burger after burger after burger”.

TKO Restructure Claims Another WWE Veteran

For some stars, it appeared that WWE was going to be their life, with that likely the case for a limited few.

With Sheamus having rejected a contract extension that would have seen his contract restructured, further details of how TKO, the parent company of WWE, are handling such offers when it comes to veteran stars seen as “being on their downside“.

This comes after the New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) exited the company, with reports noting that WWE and TKO had “asked the pair to restructure their deal“.

Looking further back, the likes of Dolph Ziggler, himself with a nineteen-year WWE tenure, has gone on to success under his Nic Nemeth name outside of the company, currently signed to TNA Wrestling and in his second reign as World Champion at just three years younger than Sheamus.

For New Day, the duo are likely to pop up on the wrestling scene again, with plenty of interest in seeing them appear elsewhere, and AEW no doubt keeping an eye on their future.

It remains to be seen where Sheamus will turn up next, although it appears that there are some in AEW who are “not really thrilled” about the possibility of that particular signing.
