Undefeated Heavyweight Boxing champion Tyson Fury retired from boxing following his victory over Dillian Whyte last month, and he teased a possible appearance at SummerSlam during his post-fight speech.
Fury has been going back and forth with former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre for months, with speculation that the two will meet at the Clash at the Castle show in Cardiff on September 3.
McIntyre himself spoke to New York Newsday about a potential fight. McIntyre said that he thinks Fury’s obsession with him is ‘kind of weird’, but he has WWE’s number if he wants to get a match arranged.
He said:
“First of all, I think we’re talking about WWE. I think I’d be insane to get in the ring with possibly the best boxer of all time, certainly top five. The ball’s in his court. I appreciate that my name is always in his mouth. He’s got an obsession with Drew McIntyre, which is kind of weird. But I kind of like it at the same time. We’ve been going back and forth to each other nonstop for a couple of years. He’s got our number. My focus is on Roman Reigns and the titles right now. But if he wants to do business, he knows our people. Give us a call.”
McIntyre is currently looking ahead at Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, with conflicting reports that the champion may be set to take time off from the company soon.
