Former AEW Star Set For Upcoming WWE Tryout

A former AEW star is reportedly set to take part in a WWE tryout over SummerSlam weekend in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

WWE is set to host it’s latest tryouts this weekend, when the tryouts take place in Minneapolis ahead of this year’s SummerSlam event at US Bank Stadium.

A number of independent wrestling stars have announced that they will be attending the tryouts, and another notable name is set to be at the tryouts this weekend.

KJ Orso To Attend WWE Tryout

Per Fightful Select (subscription required), independent star KJ Orso, who previously worked for AEW as Fuego Del Sol, is set to be at the tryouts in Minneapolis this weekend.

Fuego had spent a lot of his time in AEW competing on Dark and Dark: Elevation during the pandemic, with him famously facing Miro for the TNT Championship on the debut episode of Rampage in 2021, where Sammy Guevara offered him an AEW contract after the match.

Fuego had announced his departure from AEW in June 2023, with him now competing as KJ Orso in various independent promotions.

The Mixed Record Of AEW To WWE Jumps

Over the past few years we have begun seeing a number of AEW stars make the move over to WWE after jumps only went the other way for the first few years of AEW’s lifespan.

The results of AEW to WWE jumps have been mixed, with obvious major success stories such as Cody Rhodes and CM Punk, as well as some lesser success stories like Penta, Ethan Page and Jade Cargill, who have all achieved championship glory during their time in WWE.

On the other hand, there are a number of AEW to WWE jumps that have yet to find the same immediate success that they had in AEW.

While Royce Keys is now starting to finally be featured in a prominent role on WWE television, he spent a lot of time not being featured on television following his Royal Rumble debut.

Other names that have made the move over from AEW such as Ricky Saints, Blake Monroe, Rey Fenix and Rusev have yet to really light the world on fire since making the switch between the two promotions, while Andrade’s WWE return run was so uneventful he is already back in AEW and arguably at his best.
