Former World Champion Returns After Two Year Absence, Causes Title Change At AEW All In London 2026

A former World Champion has returned to AEW following a near two year absence from the company; playing a crucial role in a title changing hands.

With her last AEW match coming all the way back in November 2024, Britt Baker is now finally back in the mix in AEW and she’s seemingly got a brand new ally alongside her.

During the AEW All In London: Buy In, Maya World put her TBS Championship on the line against CMLL Women’s World Champion Persephone.

After an evenly contested match, Maya World appeared to potentially be closing in on a title retention as she scaled the turnbuckle, however, any plans she had were turned upside down when a masked individual pushed her off the top rope, as the referee wasn’t looking.

Immediately capitalizing was Persephone, who put World away with a Crucifix Powerbomb to become new AEW TBS Champion.

The masked individual would then enter the ring, locking in the Lockjaw submission move – which elicited a loud response from the Wembley crowd.

Putting any doubt to rest, the masked woman then revealed herself to be none other than Britt Baker – who, as mentioned, had not been seen on AEW TV in almost two whole years.

In a post match interview with Lexy Nair, Baker explained her return and new allegiance with Persephone:

“Well it’s so good to be back. Just because I haven’t been here doesn’t mean I haven’t been watching.

“I know what goes on around here. I know who’s up, I know who’s down and I know who’s a little too comfortable that I’ve been out of the picture.

“But funny thing about being away is you get perspective on who’s worth your time, and Percy here (Persephone) she’s smart she’s strong, she’s ambitious and she’s a double champ.”

One Year On, One Year Off A Good Strategy For AEW All London

After the record-breaking success of the inaugural AEW All In London event in 2023, it was no shock to see the company return to Wembley Stadium the following year.

While they still attracted a huge crowd of well over 40,000, the show did not reach the heights of its predecessor. However, given the novelty of that first show, that’s not a massive surprise.

After a year away from Wembley in 2025, anticipation for this year’s All In London has been at a high and ticket sales appear to be strong to boot.

To keep things fresh for AEW’s biggest PPV event, Tony Khan may opt to follow this one year on, one year off approach for Wembley, as there are no shortage of appealing venues both in the United States and internationally, where they could host All In.

AEW is heading to Paris for their first show in France this Fall, and by continuing to branch out to new regions, they may stumble across the perfect market to bring All In to next.
