The ‘Ring General’ GUNTHER has shared his first comments after guaranteeing that he will become the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all-time on this week’s WWE Raw (September 4).
GUNTHER effectively secured the record after defeating Chad Gable in the Raw main event in Charlotte, NC.
The Austrian will finally replace the Honky Tonk Man as of this Thursday, September 7, at the very top of the list for the longest reigning champions to ever hold WWE’s workhorse championship.
In a post-match interview released by WWE, GUNTHER commented on the massive achievement, however, he was not even slightly surprised it had gotten to this point.
Name-dropping past great IC champions such as Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, GUNTHER said that all of them can line-up and ‘lace his boots’.
While some fans may anticipate him potentially dropping the title soon now that the record is set to be broken, GUNTHER has no plans for that to happen, saying that their is “no man born yet” who can take his title away from him.
As well as the main event, there was also some new development in the ongoing story of The Judgment Day as Sami Zayn was defeated by blossoming ally to the faction, JD McDonagh.
However, this match was reportedly not originally planned to take place until a late change was made -Ch for more details click here.
