Zack Sabre Jr will officially make his Ring of Honor debut against Jonathan Gresham at Final Battle. Gresham proclaimed that he was issuing an open challenge for Final Battle to show that he is the best pure wrestler in the world.
Zack Sabre Jr then appeared on the titantron and accepted the challenge while saying that he was the best technical wrestler in the world. Sabre has won the Wrestling Observer Newsletter award for Best Technical Wrestler in each of the past four years so it is difficult to dispute his claim.
Zack Sabre Jr is known all over the world because of his technical wrestling ability and his submission prowess. Sabre won the 2018 New Japan Cup in March and will challenge Tomohiro Ishii for the RevPro British Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 13. Despite wrestling for nearly 15 years, this will be the first time Sabre will wrestle for Ring of Honor.
Many fans will also know Sabre from his involvement in WWE‘s Cruiserweight Classic in 2016. In the 32-man tournament, Sabre made it to the semi-finals before he was defeated by Gran Metalik.
The updated card for Final Battle is as follows:
- ROH World Championship – Jay Lethal (c) vs. Cody
- ROH TV Championship – Jeff Cobb (c) vs. Hangman Page
- Zack Sabre Jr vs. Jonathan Gresham
- Matt Taven vs. Dalton Castle
- Women of Honor Championship – Sumie Sekai (c) vs. Madison Rayne vs. Karen Q vs. TBD
