Impact Review – 26th April 2018

I’m a Mark (for Cage)

It happened with CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Bad News Barrett, and Johnny Gargano. It’s happening again, I’m becoming a real mark for Brian Cage.

Writing your thought’s each week in a review really puts perspective on your feeling towards particular wrestlers in a promotion. Over the past seven weeks I’ve gone from finding Brian Cage boring, to him being one of my favorite acts in Impact right now. On the flip side, I don’t feel like I need to see Fallah Bahh every week, anymore.

Cage had a scheduled match against Trevor Lee this week. Even though I knew how this would end, I was happy to see how it unfolded.

Cage embodies the meaning of the X-Division. It’s not a cruiserweight division, as you’d be forgiven for thinking. The tagline for the division is:

“It’s not about weight limits, it’s about no limits”

I think Brian Cage needs a T-Shirt with “No Limits” on it.

Lee put up a good fight in the match, but we all knew how this was going to end from the start. Brian Cage is formidable, and the only thing I worry about is him becoming boring and predictable if he keeps winning. I’m not a fan of undefeated streaks, because the invitable loss predictably will only end up happening on a big pay-per-view. This has a habbit of making week-to-week television a bit lackluster to say the least.

That being said, Lee came out of this match looking fantastic. He can hold his own against the bigger man, and that is going to be important for him moving forward.
