John Cena and Nikki Bella BACK TOGETHER

John Cena and Nikki Bella BACK TOGETHER

According to People, WWE’s reality TV power couple John Cena and Nikki Bella are back together.

Little over a month ago the pair announced that they had separated, calling off their wedding just three weeks prior to the big day. It was reported that Nikki had left John, due to his laissez faire attitude towards their relationship.

It was said that Nikki was unhappy with Cena marrying her because he felt obligated, and that she had never come to terms with his refusal to consider having kids – something she had always wanted. This thread was repeatedly plucked and exploited throughout the entirety of Total Divas and Total Bellas.

Cynics – this writer included – immediately suspected that with a new season of Total Bellas on the horizon, the break-up was nothing more than a publicity stunt designed to boost the show’s flagging ratings.

Whether it was or was not is now immaterial, as it appears the couple have reconciled their differences / dropped the act, and are now back together.

According to family sources, the split was, “never really about ending their relationship – it was about calling off a wedding because something didn’t feel right.” Of course, that directly contradicts public statements made by both at the time, but who’s counting, right?

In an interesting note, the source also claims that Cena has changed his long-held stance on having children: “This time next year they’ll be married, for sure. And there will be a baby”.

Cena’s previous reluctance to consider having children was due to his always being on the road and not wanting to have a family that he would never see. Perhaps his apparent change of heart is a further indication that his wrestling career is winding down.

It should be noted that the break-up – PR stunt or not – did little to boost Total Bellas ratings. The premiere episode of the show’s third season pulled an average of 517,00 viewers, down from 681,000 for last season’s premiere. It was the lowest number ever in the show’s 15 episode run.
