Kevin Owens has shared an update on his injury status, revealing his early estimate for his recovery time ahead of having surgery.
As confirmed by Owens himself on the April 4 SmackDown episode, the former Universal Champion has been pulled from his WrestleMania 41 match against Randy Orton due to needing neck surgery.
With Owens’ future seeming uncertain due to the severity of his neck issues, Owens has noted that he fully intends to return to the ring.
Speaking on My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox, people who he knows who have went through similar issues were out of action anywhere from six months to a year.
Noting that he’ll have a better idea about his personal recovery schedule after he speaks with surgeons on Monday (April 7), Owens said:
“I know I’ll come back — or at the very least, I really hope I come back. You know, I guess there’s … I never take anything for granted in what we do, so who knows? But it’s pretty likely I’ll come back. And then, maybe we could do it (match with Orton at WrestleMania) eventually.”
“I haven’t talked to the surgeon or anything like that yet. I’m going to do all that on Monday. I mean, I know that most of the people who have gone through similar things have probably, you know, six months to eight months to a year. So I would assume within that range, but I don’t really know. Like I said, it’s all really new right now.”
A previous report indicated that Owens may be looking at receiving neck fusion surgery.
Owens recently revealed when he believes he suffered his neck injury, which you can read more about right here.
We wish Kevin Owens a safe and healthy recovery.
