Former WWE Women’s Champion Layla has addressed the possibility of her making an in-ring return, after over a decade away.

Layla’s last match saw her lose to Paige at the July 26, 2015 non-televised WWE house show, prior to the company announcing her retirement the following month.

With her most recent televised in-ring outing being a losing effort to Naomi and Tamina alongside Emma on the June 10, 2015 Main Event episode, Layla spoke on Insight with Chris Van Vliet about the likelihood of her coming out of retirement.

Indicating that she doesn’t expect to have another full in-ring run, Layla said:

“I’m too old, and I’m out of shape. I can’t say never, because I feel like if there was ever an opportunity for Michelle and I to do something like LayCool or something like that, of course, but not a run or anything.

“If there was ever that opportunity, I think that would be so wrong of me not to do that. So to me, that would be the only thing I think I would come back for.

“But am I trying to have a match or anything like that right now? No. Sorry, no one wants to see it. I don’t want to embarrass myself, I don’t want to tarnish what I’ve had in my past career, kind of thing. So if I never come back, then I’ll just rather leave it the way it was.”

With Layla stating earlier this week that she’d love one more match against Michelle McCool, it would appear that she is hopeful that she has a one-off in-ring appearance.

It would be a full-circle moment to see one of the stars of the Divas era get to compete in a WWE ring post-women’s evolution, even if it is just for one more match.

Layla also revealed that a current WWE star came up with the “LayCool” tag-team name for her and Michelle McCool, click here to read more.
