The Briscoes def. SCU (c), Young Bucks – Ladder War for ROH Tag Team Titles

That was, what I like to call, beautiful chaos.

The was blood, there was carnage, and there are new Tag Team Champions, as it was Mark and Jay Briscoe who triumph in the Ladder War.

The Briscoes’ mindset from the outset was not to rush climbing the ladder, but instead to annihilate their opponents to the point of incapacitate to forge a clear path.

All I can say about that is, if you’re into this sort of thing, you should probably watch this match. It was laid out really well. Briscoes had their strategy, whereas the Bucks and SCU were just going hell for leather. Really great narrative.

Nick Jackson of the Bucks got so close to reaching the titles, but he was pushed off the ladder to the outside through a table, which left Kaz and Jay atop another ladder reaching for the gold.

The two teetered until Mark slid into the ring with a chair and chucked it right at Kaz’s head, knocking him off a ladder and through a table, allowing Jay to grab both titles and crown the Briscoes now 10-time ROH Tag Team Champions.

Jay Lethal (c) def. Cody – ROH World Title

Well, Cody isn’t taking the ROH Title anywhere, as Jay Lethal successfully retains via submission.

Lethal worked over Cody’s knee all match and it paid dividends in the end as it was a Figure Four that sealed the deal for the champion.

Alongside a host of other shenanigans, there was one particular sequence that really stood out.

Lethal went for the Shattered Dreams, but the ref blocked him, and the distraction allowed Brandi to slide into the ring and attempt a spear with her metal shoulder, only she accidentally speared Cody.

Cody then directly pulled his wife into a Lethal Injection, eliminating her from the equation, before landing a Cross Rhodes on Lethal for a nearfall.

Cody then locked Jay in the Figure Four, which prompted Hangman Page to run out and ring the bell which of course wasn’t the end of the match.

High drama and a host of nearfalls followed, but it was a Figure Four from Lethal that made Cody submit in possibly his last ROH match for quite some time.

Marty Scurll then made his way into the ring to approach the champion, as he of course is owed a title match, and the NWA World Champion Nick Aldis also walked down the ramp, looking at Lethal and Scurll before making his way back.

Seeds well and truly planted.

Up next, it’s time for the main event, as SCU defend their Tag Team Titles in a Ladder War against the Briscoes and the Young Bucks.

Flip Gordon def. Bully Ray – “I Quit!” Match

Wowzers, that was an I Quit match and a half.

Bully dominates early on, and even confronts ambassador Cary Silkin, and also the ring announcer and referee. It was very much Bully Ray vs. ROH. Daniels even came back out at one point to eat a kendo shot.

Flip’s girlfriend was sat front row, and Bully dragged her over the barricade and had her in position for a powerbomb through a table, and tried to bribe Gordon into quitting or he’d put her through. Luckily, Cary Silkin recovered and attacked him with a kendo stick.

Gordon’s partner then low blowed Bully, which led to Silas Young coming out to batter Flip. Cheeseburger came out to try and even the odds, but was chucked out in short order, and the same with Colt Cabana who did put up quite the fight.

Silas covers a table in lighter fluid, and is about to set it ablaze, but the arena lights go out for a few seconds, and THE SANDMAN appears, eliminates Silas and hands Flip his Singapore cane, which Flip uses to repeatedly strike Bully until he could take no more.

That. Was. Drama.

Up next, the biggest prize in ROH is on the line, as Jay Lethal defends the World Title against Cody, who has hinted that he is perfectly happy to leave ROH and take the title with him.

Marty Scurll def. Christopher Daniels

In a match filled with emotion, chops and a LOT of nearfalls, it’s Marty Scurll who picks up the win with a Chickenwing.

Daniels did connect with the Angel’s Wings towards the end of the bout, but a prior finger snap from Scurll meant CD was unable to lock his hands and connect with the maneuver correctly.

As the commentators and crowd are paying tribute to what now appears to be Daniels’ final ROH match, Shinsuke Nakamura Bully Ray appears and low blows Daniels from behind in a truly despicable act.

Bully proceeds to call out his opponent for tonight, Flip Gordon, for their “I Quit!” match, which kicks off right now!

Matt Taven def. Dalton Castle

Before the bout kicked off, it was announced that it would be for Taven’s ‘Real ROH World Heavyweight Title’.

Early on in the bout, Taven took a really gnarly bump on the outside. He dived to the outside and it looked like he full-on guillotined himself on the barricade, but luckily it was just his ribs. I say “luckily” and “just” as if I wouldn’t have died if that was me.

Ouch.

There were plenty of shenanigans on the outside involving Dalton Castle’s boys, TK O’Ryan and Vinny Marseglia, and eventually the ref had enough and threw them all out.

Castle looked to have the match won with a Bangarang, but Taven reached the ropes at two, and shortly thereafter landed a Climax for the win.

That was a really good match.

Up next, it’s Marty Scurll vs. Christoper Daniels, with Scurll’s ROH World Title match on the line. If Daniels doesn’t win, it looks like his time with ROH may be done… High stakes.

Zack Sabre Jr. def. Jonathan Gresham

In what was – as expected – a masterclass of a mat-based technical encounter, Sabre picks up the win in his ROH debut.

The crowd was quite hot for that one, largely getting behind Sabre in his first ROH outing.

Up next, it’s Dalton Castle vs. Matt Taven!

Kelly Klein def. Sumie Sakai (c), Madison Rayne, Karen Q – WOH Title

Kelly Klein wins the first ever women’s title match at a Final Battle show, and becomes just the second ever WOH Champion!

Karen Q was first to be eliminated by Klein, with Rayne shortly following. Klein did technically score the fall on Rayne but it was off the back a Sakai move.

And after a great back-and-forth, it’s Kelly Klein who dethrones Sakai with an Avalanche K-Power!

Up next, Jonathan Gresham takes on Zack Sabre Jr. in Sabre’s ROH debut.

Jeff Cobb (c) def. Hangman Page – ROH TV Title

That was a truly fantastic title match.

Both men showed both amazing feats of strength and some crazy dives, and the crowd was hot all the way through with dueling chants.

Page almost nicked it with a Crucifix pin, but Cobb just about kicked out at two, and landed two consecutive Tour of the Islands to retain his title!

Side note – Someone in the Fite chat described Cobb as “if Kurt Angle and Rhino ran into each other really fast”, which I think is amazing.

Up next, it’s the four-way for the WOH Title, the first women’s match at Final Battle in eight years!

Kenny King def. Eli Isom

A fairly decisive win there for the veteran King.

The match played off on the idea of King’s ring intelligence against the youthful acrobatics and eagerness of Isom.

At one point, King was so in control he lifted Isom’s shoulders up on a two-count, which almost bit him on the backside when Isom rolled him up form a Royal Flush attempt.

King kicked out though, and did the same off an Isom Gory Bomb, before landing the Royal Flush for the win.

Up next, Jeff Cobb defends the TV Title against Hangman Adam Page!
