Matt Hardy has sent his congratulations to Ethan Page, who was recently called up to the main roster, commenting on the Raw star’s finisher.
The Raw After WrestleMania saw a number of NXT stars get their main roster call-up, with Ethan Page among that cohort.
Page’s arrival on WWE Raw saw him reunited with his NXT rival, Je’Von Evans, with the pair having a match on the April 20 show.
With Page victorious, he would receive congratulations on Twitter from Matt Hardy, who was sure he recognized the Twisted Grin finishing move, posting:
“Congrats to my guy @OfficialEGO Ethan Page on his #WWERAW debut & win!
“That was a helluva finishing move he had – Seems like I’ve seen it somewhere before.🤔”
A variation of the Twist of Fate, Page has previously seen his use of the move endorsed by Hardy in WWE NXT.
At last June’s WWE Worlds Collide, Page successfully defended the NXT North American Championship in a four-way match featuring Evans, Laredo Kid & Rey Fenix.
History Repeating For Ethan Page
Ethan Page and Matt Hardy have been closely associated since their shared time in AEW, both becoming members of The Firm, led by Stokely Hathaway, and competing as a team on a number of occasions.
Page signed with WWE in 2024, with Hardy going on to reveal he was proud of the star for “rolling the dice and betting on himself” during his NXT North American Championship reign.
That wasn’t the only title to be held by Page, with the NXT Championship win coming after a Trick Shot from Trick Williams saw the star fall on and pin Evans for the victory back at Heatwave in July 2024, under two months after he signed.
With WWE in partnership with TNA Wrestling, it was only a matter of time before The Hardys made an appearance in NXT, with a backstage interaction reuniting them with Page, who made a nod to his finishing move and a promise “it’s probably not the last thing I take from you guys.”
There’s certainly plenty of stuff that Page could take from the legacy of The Hardys, and it’d be a surprise if, while still in partnership with TNA Wrestling, Matt & Jeff don’t appear on WWE television once again.
When it comes to his future, Page being introduced on WWE Raw mere seconds after Je’Von Evans had confirmed he’s continuing to pursue Penta’s Intercontinental Championship could indicate the direction the former NXT star is set to take.
Such a path, with the title at its heart, could rapidly establish Page as a frontrunner for success among a field of call-ups that included Joe Hendry, Zaria, and Sol Ruca.
