WWE
WWE originally had plans for a lengthier in-ring feud between Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar, with the duo ultimately facing off at WWE WrestleMania 42.
Night 2 of WWE WrestleMania 42 opened with Oba Femi defeating Brock Lesnar at Allegiant Stadium on April 19.
Post-match, Lesnar would remove his boots and gloves, leave them in the ring and very much indicate that his time as a WWE star was at an end.
It has now been revealed that previous plans would have seen Femi and Lesnar have multiple matches rather than being a “one and done”, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.
Meltzer reports:
“At one point, they were actually going to do a (full) feud with Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi, but that was dropped weeks ago.
“At one point, this was not going to be a one-and-done.”

Brock Lesnar Retirement May Not Be What It Seemed
Late last year, it was revealed that Brock Lesnar was looking to retire “very soon”, with there being a lot of speculation around WWE SummerSlam on August 1 & 2 as the possible event to feature Lesnar’s final match, given that it will emanate from his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
While recent WWE retirements have been announced well in advance, with Cena undertaking a retirement year and AJ Styles having his final match at this year’s Royal Rumble, Lesnar’s decision to leave his boots and gloves in the ring was met by a less than definitive answer from Triple H, who stated “it certainly seemed that way” during an interview after WrestleMania 42.
Adding to the speculation that time is not at an end for Lesnar is a further report that there are people in WWE who “believe he’s not retiring yet.”
Ahead of his own retirement, AJ Styles was a full-time star in WWE, with John Cena returning for a limited number of engagements that saw eighteen matches last year. By contrast, Lesnar had two matches in 2025, with this year seeing him also compete twice: entering this year’s men’s Royal Rumble match, following by his loss to Femi at WrestleMania 42.
A victory over Lesnar is certainly a pass-the-torch moment, and if that’s the last WWE fans see of the veteran star, it’s a strong note to end on.
