A backstage update has emerged on Brock Lesnar in WWE, following Lesnar seemingly retiring after his match at WrestleMania 42.
After losing to Oba Femi in the opening match of the April 19 show, Brock Lesnar emotionally took off his gloves and boots and left them in the ring.
With leaving boots in the ring usually indicating that the star is stepping away from the ring for good, Paul Heyman also furthered the idea that Lesnar is done with wrestling on WWE Raw, emotionally demanding for The Beast to be moved from the “Now” to the “Forever” portion of WWE’s “Then, Now and Forever” intro.
Per Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, the belief of people within the company who he has spoken with is that Lesnar hasn’t actually retired for good.
Meltzer said:
“I will only say that, based on people in WWE, they believe he’s not retiring yet, although he is retiring probably at some point this year.
“I don’t know that anyone knows, this might be one of those things where everything is being kept quiet like the Seth Rollins thing. A couple of people have mentioned it, that’s the belief.”

Meltzer reiterated that he’s not saying that Lesnar hasn’t retired for sure, that’s just the belief of the people who he has spoken with.
WWE has kept several major moments closely-guarded secrets in recent years, then later revealed the extents people within the company went to keep others in the dark on WWE Unreal.
The fourth episode of WWE Unreal season one revealed that only a handful of people were told about plans for John Cena’s heel turn at Elimination Chamber 2025, with even the camera and production crew not knowing what was planned and only given general direction from Triple H moments before the low blow heard around the world.
The second season showed how WWE kept the “Ruse of the Century” which Dave Meltzer referenced, which saw Seth Rollins reveal to the world – and people backstage – at SummerSlam 2025 that his thought-to-be-legitimate leg injury was actually fake.
With SummerSlam emanating from Brock Lesnar’s hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota in August, a reveal that The Beast is preparing to actually retire in the summer would make sense, and give Unreal an interesting through-line for its fourth season, with the to-be-released season three to focus on John Cena’s retirement run.
We will continue to provide updates on Brock Lesnar‘s WWE status as they become available.
