A new role for a WWE star who recently returned to the company has been revealed following their in-ring return.
Former AEW star Shawn Spears made his return to the WWE NXT brand back in February, when he was revealed as the mystery wrestler behind a series of cryptic vignettes.
Spears, under his AEW ring name rather than his former Tye Dillinger name, has wrestled several matches since returning, as well as taking part in an overarching story with Ridge Holland.
However, it seems as though Spears is also providing help for the brand outside the ring.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required), Spears began shadowing NXT producer Johnny Moss starting on last night’s April 16 episode of the show.
Spears helped produce both the Sol Ruca vs. Lola Vice and Tatum Paxley vs. Thea Hail matches on the show.
Other former WWE stars who are currently serving as producers for the brand are Matt Bloom, Oney Lorcan and Wesley Blake, among others.
Several NXT talent noted that Moss is liked universally within NXT from a talent perspective, both as a coach and as a producer.
