Rollins’ Next Challenger Revealed?

Rollins’ Next Challenger Revealed?

By Jamal Niaz

Seth Rollins’ Intercontinental Championship run has been one of the best things to happen in WWE this year with stellar matches against the likes of The Miz and Kevin Owens being highlights so far.

Rollins has been one of the more active IC champions in recent memory with new challengers competing against him weekly and this continued when he defended his title against Jinder Mahal on last night’s Raw.

The match ended in a disqualification win for Mahal as Rollins attacked the ‘Modern Day Maharaja’ with a steel chair in an act of revenge for Mahal’s chair attack on himself and Roman Reigns last week as well as in last night’s bout.

After the match had ended, Rollins was viciously struck with a guitar by Elias, seemingly setting up the ‘Drifter’ as the next challenger to Rollins’ title. The attack was foreshadowed before Rollins’ championship match had begun as the ‘Architect’ interrupted Elias’ trademark performance, much to his dismay.

With the severity of the attack, it’s unlikely that this will result in a one-off title match on next week’s Raw but instead a longer program between the two superstars. A match between the two at Money in The Bank would make a lot of sense, with a match against Rollins more than making up for Elias’ disappointing absence from the titular ladder match.

With Elias’ growing popularity as one of the most beloved wrestlers on the roster and Rollins’ ability to constantly deliver great matches, this could steal the show if it does go down in Chicago. Although it would be awesome to see Elias getting a title run, it may be too soon for Rollins to drop the championship, so hopefully, this would be the start of a series of matches between the two.
