Ronda Rousey On WrestleMania Main Event: ‘I Made It Happen’

Since her recent heel turn, WWE Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey has felt more comfortable with her new badass persona. The UFC Hall of Famer has cut some of the better promos of her career, especially as part of her ‘Ronda On The Road’ YouTube series, where she is seemingly ”breaking kayfabe”.

On the most recent edition of the show, Ronda spoke of the historic announcement that for the first time ever women will be main eventing WrestleMania when Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch do battle for Rousey’s Raw Women’s Championship:

“On one hand, I’m like so happy for all the progress we made and like, this is like some real lifetime legacy s***, you know. This is like real effect that you’re having on society and mankind. That’s awesome, but then it’s also, it’s really cool to see people like so pissed off that thought I would fail miserably, and see that within one year we’re the main event of WrestleMania and you know what? I could promise you that Charlotte vs. Becky 9,000 wouldn’t have made the main event at WrestleMania. They need me and I made it happen. And all these people can like bitch and moan and complain otherwise, but you know what? Somewhere there’s an alternate universe where I didn’t do the WWE and those b***** aren’t main eventing WrestleMania this year – f****** verb.”

Taking nothing away from Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey isn’t the only person who believes without her, the women would not be main eventing the ”show of shows”. WWE Hall of Famer and former commentator Jim Ross was on Busted Open Radio and had the following to say about Rousey’s impact on the women’s division:

“To be honest about it, we all know who the catalyst of this whole thing is right? Ronda Rousey’s presence and image. What she means to the audience unsurpassed everyone on the roster except maybe Lesnar. The two most over people you can count on to sell pay-per-views in a big way is a hot angle involving Lesnar, and/or a hot angle involving Rousey. I think Rousey’s there to help these other girls get over and get established, because we know that Rousey’s not gonna be around forever, and I don’t have a problem with that.”

Is Rousey right to demand more credit for this historic milestone? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
