A scrapped pitch for a stipulation to be added to a match on this week’s (August 11) edition of Friday Night SmackDown has been revealed.
On Friday’s show, AJ Styles faced off against Karrion Kross, after Kross targeted Styles a number of months ago.
Styles was ultimately victorious, pinning Kross after a Styles Clash to finally put the powerhouse away.
Per PWInsider, there were backstage discussions about potentially adding a stipulation to AJ Styles vs Karrion Kross.
The report noted that a No Disqualifications bout was considered.
The idea of adding a stipulation was discussed over the last week but was eventually dropped.
It is unclear why WWE chose to drop talk about a stipulation.
Another recent match for which there were rumors about WWE possibly adding a stipulation was Brock Lesnar vs Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam.
Per a previous report, a stipulation was never seriously considered for this SummerSlam match after those within WWE agreed that the bout didn’t need a stipulation.
A number of major stars are reportedly not expected to be at next week’s (August 18) SmackDown taping.
