WWE star The Rock has commented on Zilla Fatu ahead of his upcoming NXT Championship match at Heatwave on August 30.
Debuting on the August 11 episode of NXT, Zilla Fatu is the latest member of The Bloodline family tree to sign a WWE deal.
With a recent post on Instagram showcasing Fatu during a workout, The Rock would respond to the short video, stating:
“Time to eat fam 👊🏾“
Zilla Fatu is the son of the late Umaga and the great nephew of Afa & Sika of The Wild Somoans, connecting him to the Anoa’i family that forms The Bloodline, with many of its members currently signed by WWE.
NXT Heatwave sees a Fatal Four-Way for the Championship as Tony D’Angelo defends his title against Fatu, Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana.
Fatu becomes one of a very short list of WWE stars to have their first match under contract with a championship on the line.
A Highly-Anticipated Debut For A WWE Star
The very existence of a member of the Anoa’i family in professional wrestling leads to speculation as to when they’ll eventually sign a WWE contract, joining a long-running legacy within the company.
The same was true of Zilla Fatu, who only made his professional wrestling debut in July 2023, leading to a WWE contract just over three years later. A former two-time HOG Crown Jewel Champion, Zilla Fatu dropped that title recently to Amazing Red, with the veteran star offering a message of “real simple, good luck” after their match on August 7.
The sentiment is a sound once, but Fatu has demonstrated an intensity since his NXT debut that suggests that ‘luck’ isn’t really needed in his case. Being inserted straight into the NXT Championship picture sets the bar high for the star, whether he wins or loses. Indeed, there’s arguably more to be gained by having him lose due to interference, unleashng his wild side on whoever commits such an act.
Regardless of the outcome, eyes are likely to be on Fatu this Sunday, with AJ Styles believed to be involved in producing the match and the retired WWE star indicating he has “definitely got some ideas” for what fans can expect.
