Update On Former WWE Name Joining AEW Creative Team AEW

An update has emerged on a former WWE name who has now joined the AEW creative team.

It was previously reported that Jimmy Jacobs was backstage at Wednesday’s (June 14) Dynamite taping, before Fightful later confirmed that he had signed with AEW.

PWInsider has provided a new update on the situation, also reporting that Jacobs has officially started as an AEW coach/producer.

The report noted that Jacobs’ hiring was part of AEW’s move to add additional staff to the company in preparation for Saturday’s AEW Collision premiere.

It was also stated that Jacobs finished up with IMPACT Wrestling at the June 9 Against All Odds pay-per-view, but had given notice for his departure several weeks ago.

Jacobs had been working as part of the IMPACT creative team since 2017, and was head of the creative process when he decided to leave the promotion.

Jacobs’ IMPACT departure was said to be amicable, with the creative team member signing with AEW over the weekend.

IMPACT has reportedly brought in former ROH booker ‘Delirious’ Hunter Johnston to replace Jacobs.

Prior to his IMPACT tenure, Jacobs worked with WWE, joining the company’s creative team in 2015.

He was let go by WWE in 2017, reportedly for sharing a photo to social media of himself with the Bullet Club during their Raw ‘invasion’.

Interestingly, AEW EVPs Matt & Nick Jackson, and former AEW World Champion Hangman Page were in this photo.

Page, the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega are all currently in talks for new deals with AEW. For the latest update on their status, click here.

PWInsider also noted another AEW star in addition to Bryan Danielson who’s been involved in creative recently – to find out who and more details, click here.
