The AEW Women’s World Championship match between Willow Nightingale and Mercedes Moné is in the books, with a brand new champion being crowned inside Wembley Stadium.

On a night full of title changes, surprise moments and hard-hitting matches, Willow Nightingale and Mercedes Moné went to war for the right to be called AEW Women’s World Champion.

One of the biggest talking points heading into the match was Willow Nightingale’s broken hand, and unsurprisingly The CEO made that a focus of her attacks throughout, particularly in the match’s latter stages.

Despite this however, it was Moné who had to deal with injury woes for much of the match, as Nightingale busted her opponent’s nose open within minutes of the match starting.

While both competitors were worse for wear, it took a referee bump for things to truly take a turn. As after Aubrey Edwards got inadvertently knocked down, Moné began upping the ante by attacking Nightingale’s broken hand.

Nightingale was not out of it and she fought back to almost win, however, with the referee down, it was Moné who ultimately got the better of her once order had been restored.

Locking in a Statement Maker, Moné finally forced Nightingale to submit to become AEW Women’s World Chmapion for the very first time.

The Real Value Of Mercedes Mone To AEW

Mercedes Mone joined AEW on a major money contract and, after an initial buzz, her arrival arguably didn’t lead to measurable growth for the company.

However, there is another aspect of Mone joining AEW that is overlooked and we could see pay off very soon.

By signing Mone, AEW didn’t just sign an individual, it signed someone who would attract even more big names to the company as well.

That would be perfectly evidence by the seemingly possible signing of Bayley some time later this year if she ends up leaving WWE.

Her interest in AEW could be attributed to at least some degree by the prospect of wrestling and working alongside Mone.

And then that would have the knock-on effect of some of Bayley’s coworkers and proteges in WWE wanting to work with her again, and very quickly, the AEW women’s division could explode – and it would all have stemmed from Mone.
