On the September 12 episode of WWE NXT, Becky Lynch not only won a championship but also caused a huge ratings boost.
Lynch defeated Tiffany Stratton to become NXT Women’s Champion with highlights of the match available below this news story.
The win sees Lynch start her first run as NXT Women’s Champion, securing her place as the sixth Women’s Grand Slam winner in company history.
Former NXT Women’s Champion Bayley had something to say about this on social media, pointing out that it “took Becky Lynch long enough.”
Seth Rollins was far more positive in his appraisal of Lynch as the new champion, looking forward to what The Man would be able to bring to the brand.
With the news that WWE NXT’s eight-minute overrun for the championship match drew 1.061 million viewers, Becky Lynch commented on the ratings boost the episode experienced, tweeting:

It was also noted that 927,000 viewers tuned into the start of Becky Lynch vs. Tiffany Stratton for the NXT Women’s Championship. This includes a 0.28 rating in the key 18-49 demographic.
That is a 14% total viewership boost and 6% increase in the key demo from the previous quarter.
It had previously been reported that the episode had the highest total viewership for the show since the October 28, 2020 episode.
In a post match promo, Lynch revealed that she’s planning on staying in NXT as a fighting champion.
