Current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has named CM Punk as a dream opponent, but doesn’t know if it’s likely to happen.

Rhodes and CM Punk have interacted multiple times on WWE TV lately, first on the night before WrestleMania 42 when Punk was still World Heavyweight Champion, where they celebrated their title reigns together.

At Mania, Rhodes retained his WWE Title against Randy Orton, but Punk lost his World Title to Roman Reigns.

Then on Raw the night after WrestleMania, they interacted again, with Punk saying a title shot could “fall out of the sky” for him at some point, teasing a future match between the two.

In a new interview posted by ESPN, Cody Rhodes named Punk as his dream opponent but casted doubts over whether it’s possible, saying:

“All-time dream match – I think fans think might happen but I think is very hard to put together – I will use myself in this example, but a dream match that I’d like to be part of is probably myself vs CM Punk.

“The likelihood of it happening, who knows? Wrestling has gotten more… it’s difficult. We’re collaborators these days, so it’s difficult. I don’t know if he’d want that, and I don’t even know if I’d want it.

“But I know it would just be really great and be very good for wrestling.”

Cody Rhodes vs. CM Punk Is One Of The Biggest Matches Possible In WWE

There’s no doubt that a match between Cody Rhodes and CM Punk is one of the biggest matches WWE could put on right now.

It has been teased multiple times over the past few years, and was even in the original plans for WrestleMania 42 when Roman Reigns’ planned opponent was Seth Rollins before Rollins’ injury.

However, with time winding down on Punk’s career, and the emergence of new top stars like Oba Femi, Bron Breakker, Trick Williams and more, if WWE wants to pull this off, it might have to happen some time in the not too distant future, whether that be this year’s SummerSlam or next year’s WrestleMania.
