Eric Bischoff has heaped praised on Will Ospreay following his match against Kenny Omega at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
Speaking about the six-star classic for the IWGP United States Championship, Bischoff shared his opinion of Will Ospreay, comparing him to a legendary WWE Hall of Famer.
Bischoff made the comparison on a recent episode of 83 Weeks, saying:
“I was blown away. Ospreay reminds me of a tougher Shawn Michaels. He’s got the look obviously.
“Wrestling, in terms of his in-ring capabilities, is just otherworldly at this point. It was like the new school, the very athletic, physical, dynamic, incredibly difficult and high-risk type of offense, it had all of that, but it also had Nick Bockwinkel-Vern Gagne-esque psychology.
“So, the story was there. The psychology was there. The dynamic presentation, the athleticism, the things that people really dig nowadays, that was there in spades.
“There’s more than enough of that for anybody who loves that style and that presentation, but it still had great psychology in the pacing and the story.”
Ospreay’s performance was also praised by fellow United Empire member, the recently signed to AEW Kyle Fletcher, calling the Aerial Assassin “the greatest wrestler alive today“.
Speaking at the post-show media scrum, Ospreay suggested that he may be bringing his time on the independent scene to an end.
With two highly-regarded matches in 2023, Ospreay has also addressed the possibility of a third encounter with Kenny Omega.
