Impact Wrestling Star Reveals Current WWE Relationship

A recently signed Impact Wrestling star has revealed his relationship with WWE and the obstacles for a return.

Santino Marella, the new Director of Authority in Impact Wrestling, debuted for the company at Hard to Kill though is probably best remembered for time in WWE.

The former WWE Intercontinental champion appeared on The Drew Van Auken Show and discussed his current relationship with his former employer, saying:

“I have a very good relationship with WWE and we chat sometimes.”

Whilst he wouldn’t rule out working with WWE again, he did explain the issues with a potential return to the company, stating:

“The thing is that I’m Canadian, so to bring me in for a one-off, they have to get a work visa.

“So it’s like ‘Man, are we going to spend $5,000 to bring him in for one day?”

With his daughter currently performing as Arianna Grace on WWE NXT, Marella does have a hope that he may get to work with her when she makes her move to the main roster.

He did, however, explain that he doesn’t see a return as a full-time performer, concluding:

“My life is so perfectly balanced right now. I wouldn’t gamble that, man. I just can’t gamble that.

“To go on the road 50 weeks a year, even if it’s for one day.

“If I had what I call the Booker T schedule where you fly in and do commentary, then fly home, that’s still every week.

“You’re still flying out every Sunday, working every Monday, and flying home every Tuesday. I really like this schedule.”

Marella made his WWE debut in April 2007 and would remain a popular fixture in the company until his release in May 2016.

He was the two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion, a WWE United States Champion and held the WWE Tag Team Championship alongside Vladimir Koslov.

He also won the Miss WrestleMania Battle Royal in 2009’s WrestleMania 25 as Santina Marella.
