Je’Von Evans has opened up about the timing of a spot on WWE Raw that he felt went ‘perfectly’ and how nervous he was before hitting it.

With Je’Von Evans have felt “pissed” after a botch on NXT during his match with Randy Orton, the star would reflect on a high-risk move he went on to do during a WWE match earlier this year.

Looking back at the February 9 episode of WWE Raw, Evans spoke about the OG Cutter he delivered to Bravo Americano during an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, saying:

“I’m a nervous guy. All right, I was so nervous about that, because, of course, you know I jump high, and then he had to jump literally maybe a couple milliseconds before I jump. We had the timing off perfectly. Then we did it, and I was so proud. I was so proud about that.”

Part of that pride stemmed from Evans knowing that he’d side-stepped a potential negative reaction from WWE fans, stating:

“Because I knew that if I messed up, then of course the fans would be like, ‘Oh, Je’Von needs to stop doing the dumb stuff. He needs to calm down.’ But because I hit it correctly, now everybody’s like, Oh, that was fire!”

The match in question would see Evans and The Original Grande Americano team together in a victory over Los Americanos (Bravo & Rayo Americano).

Evans would also address his match against El Grande Americano, revealing the reason that it was stopped during a break on the January 19 episode of WWE Raw.

The Underrated Standing Of Los Americanos

Under their respective masks, Bravo Americano is Tyler Bate, while Rayo Americano is Pete Dunne, both stars who are fast approaching the ten-year anniversary of their WWE debuts in the United Kingdom Championship Tournament of January 2017.

Dunne’s career has seen him as WWE United Kingdom Champion and NXT Tag Team Champion, with Bate’s tenure seeing him as the first and last NXT United Kingdom Champion, an NXT UK Heritage Cup winner, NXT Tag Team Champion, and NXT UK Tag Team Champion.

For Dunne, his main roster call-up would take place in March 2022, teaming with Ridge Holland and Sheamus, being renamed Butch, as a member of The Brawling Brutes. With a mind for the wrestling business that saw him frequently praised by his peers on the independent wrestling scene, it comes as little surprise that Dunne has found himself at home in a producer role, particularly within AAA.

Bate would follow Dunne to the main roster in January 2024, reuniting with Dunne, convincing the star that he was not Butch, forming New Catch Republic. A torn pectoral muscle suffered by Bate would see him sidelined, awaiting a return after being cleared.

Returning under a mask and allying with El Grande Americano was unlikely to be on the bingo card of fans for either star, yet Bravo and Rayo have become something of a highlight, showing a depth to both stars that, perhaps, they hadn’t quite been able to showcase in past iterations.

Dunne was able to bring out a new side of himself as Butch, with the star noting that he gained younger fans as a result of that character. Bate was, arguably, in his element when he was able to experiment with different characters, proving to be an ideal foil for the much more serious and intense Dunne.

It’s their commitment to Bravo and Rayo that stands out, particularly in social media posts. Over on the Los Americanos Instagram, the pair can be seen embracing their respective roles in lighthearted skits, with their in-ring action continuing on AAA, the main roster and WWE Main Event.

It may not be the WWE World Championship match future that some fans wanted for the stars, but there’s plenty of years ahead of Dunne and Bate and to see them clearly enjoying what they are doing should be a reward in itself.
