On the Saturday, August 15 WWE NXT live event, Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk appeared to compete in the main event.

Punk teamed with Myles Borne and Tavion Heights to pick up a win over The Vanity Project in a trios match.

Following this bout, Punk could have a future match against someone from the WWE NXT roster on one of the upcoming shows.

Here are seven potential WWE NXT stars to face CM Punk.

7. Tristan Angels

Since arriving on WWE NXT, Tristan Angels has been one of the most featured talents on the roster.

Known as “Mr. England,” Angels has established himself as someone to watch and could be a future champion.

During his appearance on the WWE NXT live event, Punk smashed some cake in Angels’ face.

This brief interaction could set the stage for Angels to challenge Punk for a bout on a future premium live event.

6. Jackson Drake

As previously mentioned, CM Punk, Myles Borne and Tavion Heights defeated The Vanity Project’s Jackson Drake, Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes in a six-man tag team match on the August 15 WWE NXT live event.

After debuting with The Vanity Project, Jackson Drake has cemented himself as a threat for any singles title in the company.

While he has yet to win a singles title on NXT, Drake could get a huge opportunity against Punk in the future.

Drake challenging Punk for the Undisputed WWE Championship would be interesting and give him the chance to break out in a massive way.

5. Zilla Fatu

On the August 11 episode of WWE NXT, Zilla Fatu made his debut with the company.

Destroying Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana, Fatu made it clear that he was coming for the NXT Championship.

The latest member of The Bloodline coming to WWE should see him presented as a major star.

The best way to do that might be giving Zilla a big time showdown against CM Punk immediately.

4. Myles Borne

Myles Borne has more than showcased himself as one of the top stars on the NXT brand.

The current NXT North American Champion recently became a double titleholder, winning the NXT Tag Team Championships with Tavion Heights.

After displaying his ability in the ring and growing as a character, Borne feels prepared for a huge chance against a main roster top star.

Facing CM Punk would give Borne a real opportunity to stand in the spotlight moving forward.

3. Tony D’Angelo

At WWE Stand & Deliver 2026, Tony D’Angelo defeated Joe Hendry, Ricky Saints and Ethan Page to win the NXT Championship.

Since then, D’Angelo has had successful title defenses against the likes of Naraku and Ethan Page.

Now standing atop of the brand, there is no one bigger on the NXT roster to face CM Punk than Tony D.

D’Angelo having a champion vs. champion battle against Punk would be a compelling bout to present a future major show down the road.

2. Cruz Montana

On the July 21 edition of WWE NXT, Cruz Montana made his official debut as a member of the roster.

The former Mike Santana has since established himself as a featured star on the brand.

Setting his sights on the NXT Championship, Montana is looking to become the face of the Tuesday night show.

Considering their history in All Elite Wrestling, Montana might make for the ideal opponent to face Punk in the near future.

1. Grayson Waller

On the July 28 episode of WWE NXT, Grayson Waller returned to the brand to cut a scathing promo cutting down the entire men’s roster.

The Aussie star showcased himself as one of the best talkers on the NXT brand immediately.

Following the August 15 WWE NXT live event, Waller got into an intense confrontation with CM Punk backstage before being separated.

Waller challenging Punk could make for a highly anticipated battle that will be more than likely be extremely heated.
