WWE stars Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa have a special tribute to a legendary wrestling faction planned for WrestleMania 40.
Gargano and Ciampa of DIY will compete in the Six Pack Tag Team Ladder Match slated for Saturday’s WrestleMania show. Both the Raw and SmackDown tag titles will be on the line during this bout.
Speaking with Steve Fall of WrestlingNews.co, Ciampa revealed that he and Gargano have a nod to D-Generation-X planned for their appearance.
R-Truth notably mistook the duo for DX’s Triple H and Shawn Michaels in February, leading to them all forming Re-Generation-X alongside The Miz.
Commenting on their recent tributes, and teasing a WrestleMania homage, Ciampa said:
“The DX stuff was a lot of fun considering coming up trained by Hunter and Shawn so much at the Performance Center in NXT. So that’s cool.
“We got a little nod to them planned for Saturday, so that’ll be a lot of fun too. It’s just been a great time all around.”
While there have been rumors swirling about the lineup changing, the six teams set to compete in the ladder match include DIY, Tyler Bate & Pete Dunne, R-Truth & The Miz, Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods, Austin Theory & Grayson Waller and current champions Finn Balor & Damian Priest of the Judgment Day.
