WWE Star Retiring At SummerSlam 2026 Update

A potential update has emerged regarding a retirement that could take place at WWE SummerSlam 2026 this coming weekend.

At SummerSlam night one on Saturday, August 1, GUNTHER faces SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis in Aldis’ first match in WWE.

Aldis is a former TNA and NWA World Heavyweight Champion, but has yet to wrestle in WWE despite being an on-screen figure as SmackDown GM for the past three years.

And his WWE run might start and end with just one match, as GUNTHER has said he intends to add Aldis to the list of careers he’s ended.

Since last year, GUNTHER has retired WWE legends Goldberg, John Cena and AJ Styles, and he is planning for Aldis to be the next name in that collection.

Speaking with Complex, the Austrian said:

“I’m in the peak of my career, his career’s basically over. I guess it rejuvenates now, but it will be over at SummerSlam again.

“What other thing should I aim for than beating him? And I don’t see what he can do in a loss that convinces everybody else that he should keep wrestling.

“I just don’t think that’s gonna be the case. I don’t think I’m gonna give him much chance to shine.”

Will Nick Aldis Wrestle Again After WWE SummerSlam 2026?

WWE fans have been anticipating the in-ring debut of Nick Aldis, knowing his accomplished background as a top active wrestler in TNA, the NWA and more.

However, will SummerSlam be the first AND last time we see him wrestle in WWE?

While there wouldn’t be any arguments against Aldis returning to the active roster, there’s no doubt that there’s some perfect synergy with GUNTHER’s ‘Career Killer’ gimmick if he does indeed end the career of Aldis at SummerSlam.

There’s the option of Aldis having a bit of a run and then perhaps coming back around and being retired by GUNTHER later, but it just fits perfectly with the theme of GUNTHER’s past couple of year for Aldis to be added to the list of legendary careers ended by the ‘Ring General.’
