Top WWE Star Calls For WrestleMania In Wembley Stadium

Top WWE Star Calls For WrestleMania In Wembley Stadium WWE, FA

A top WWE star has followed up on John Cena’s WWE-instructed public comments about bringing WrestleMania to London at Money in the Bank by also advocating for it to happen, specifically at Wembley Stadium.

The English national stadium has long been touted as the ideal venue for a hypothetical WrestleMania in the UK due to its historical value and large capacity, yet WWE has not housed an event there since SummerSlam 1992.

With AEW just weeks away from ending the Wembley wrestling drought with August 27’s All In, a show that has thus far distributed over 78,000 tickets, the possibility is most certainly there for WWE to follow suit in the future.

Speaking to WWE on TNT Sports, the Celtic Warrior Sheamus gave his thoughts on a WrestleMania over in European shores, specifically touting Wembley as an ideal location.

Sheamus said:

“I’d love to see it happen, I think WrestleMania on this side of the isles would be great, it’s a question everyone’s been asking and I think it’s a question that’s very valid it’s something that should happen.

“Whether it’s in Wembley or an even bigger stadium like Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, you know what I mean?

“It needs to come over here, help these Europeans and Irish people with airfares, you know what I’m saying?

“Keep it local, they’re spending all their money on flights and hotels and most the people in that arena at every WrestleMania are from over here in Europe, they’re Irish, they’re UK and they’re European.”

Despite WrestleMania being the ultimate goal for the European fans, Sheamus believes that WWE could instead house another of the big four events first, and he also pointed at September 2022’s Clash at the Castle and July 2023’s Money in the Bank as examples of how successful a WrestleMania on European soil could be.

Sheamus continued:

“So I think it’s time it does, my only thing is, and I’m trying to play devil’s advocate here, but I think if there’s gonna be a major one they could start with SummerSlam.

“Not that that’s bad, but they’ve tested the waters, they’ve seen what Clash at the Castle has done, they’ve seen what Money in the Bank has done, like there’s no clearer way than to have a WrestleMania at Wembley, it’d be epic, another history making moment and I think that’s where the company’s going.

“They’re going to start doing major pay-per-views in major cities all over the world, the world’s got smaller, WWE is everywhere we go to every single country, we’ve got a show coming up in India in October, they could sell two Wembleys put together over there if they had a show, it’s just insane.

“To me the business hasn’t been hotter for a long time.”

Whether WWE will be influenced by not only the voices of Cena and Sheamus but also the incredible success of AEW’s All In remains to be seen, but given WWE’s position as the industry’s most successful company, its hard to imagine they will take kindly to Tony Khan and AEW housing the biggest UK show of all time on August 27.

All In from Wembley Stadium recently surpassed the attendance of one of the most iconic WrestleManias of all-time, to find out more details click here.
