Special Appearance Confirmed For WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event

WWE has announced a special guest appearance for the upcoming Sunday Night’s Main Event show taking place in Atlanta on September 6.

In place of Saturday Night’s Main Event, this coming Sunday’s show will play host to a live performance by Quavo, as confirmed by WWE today.

As first announced by Complex, Hip Hop Superstar Quavo will open Sunday Night’s Main Event in his hometown of Atlanta, performing an unreleased track off his upcoming album QROMELIFE, due out on all platforms soon.

A lifelong fan of WWE, Quavo has made appearances at WWE Day 1, where his group Migos’ song “Straightenin” was the official theme song for the PLE, took in WWE Bad Blood at ringside alongside Lil Yachty, and Yeeted alongside “Main Event” Jey Uso on Raw in January of 2025.

The aforementioned Lil Yachty has a big night at Sunday Night’s Main Event as well, as it will mark his wrestling debut for WWE, albeit only in a five minute match.

Yachty will face United States Champion Baron Corbin in a five-minute match, with the stipulation that if Yachty can last the five minutes without being beaten, Corbin would then have to defend his United States Championship on the same night against Trick Williams.

Corbin won the title from Williams at SummerSlam in early August, then retained against Williams in a rematch on SmackDown later that same week.

Is WWE Going Too Far With Celebrity Appearances?

For the past couple of years, WWE has seemed on the brink of taking things too far with is celebrity involvement during shows.

The odd celebrity match every couple of years was one thing, but now it feels like almost every PLE features some kind of celebrity match, whether it’s them wrestling or just having way too much involvement in something they shouldn’t – like Pat McAfee with the WrestleMania main event between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.

Sunday Night’s Main Event now featuring a performance from Quavo AND Lil Yachty in action is another example, with the problem being that it takes away time that could be spent on another match for some of the actual in-ring talent on the roster.

If celebrities start getting negative reactions from fans for being involved on WWE TV, it’s going to scare celebrities off from being associated with the product, and that isn’t something the company wants to happen.
