Here’s Why WWE Chose Netflix For Raw TV Deal WWE, Netflix

The reason why WWE chose Netflix as the new home of Monday Night Raw from 2025 has been revealed by WWE President Nick Khan.

In news, that not only rocked the wrestling world but also the broke into the mainstream news media; WWE secured Netflix as their new home for their flagship Monday Night Raw program beginning in January 2025.

The ten-year deal is unlike any other before it for both WWE and Netflix themselves and poses a lot of questions.

Thankfully for us then, WWE President Nick Khan was on-hand in an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show to discuss the deal in detail.

Sharing insight as to how the deal came about, and why they ultimately went with the streaming giant, Khan said:

“What we did, once the SmackDown deal closed which will shift SmackDown over from Fox to USA (Network) starting this October, we hyper focused on Raw.

“It was a robust marketplace, we had a number of meetings, we had a lot of interest, there were a number of offers, and at the end of the day, to be the first movers with Netflix live on a consistent basis… Yes I saw the Chris Rock special too, and the reality show after show, but 52 weeks a year, we’re turnkey as you know, you’ve (Pat McAfee) lived it with us.

“The fact that they could come to us and strike a deal and (WWE) do all the rest is something they liked, and certainly something that we thought was in our direct wheelhouse.

“It came together over the matter of a couple of months, and we think it’s a great deal.”

While the overwhelming feeling outside the company was one of surprise, Khan then discussed the reaction within the company to the news; to which he said:

“Overwhelmingly positive. Overwhelmingly positive, and I think, look, if you look at the streaming wars, Netflix has sat at the top of that perch.

“They continue to sit at the top of that perch, so it’s an entity which everybody, certainly in our sphere, has and subscribes to. We think it’s a great way to grow the WWE audience while growing the Netflix subscriber base.

“An overwhelmingly positive reaction from our force of colleagues who really make up the WWE, who all contributed to this deal, to friends and family who are texting me the same.”

Many big names in WWE have commented on the deal from WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H, to talent like Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley, with the news headlining what has been the busiest day of breaking stories of the year thus far.

Despite the news being greeted positively by those within WWE according to Khan there has also been a great deal of uncertainty in regards to one aspect of the Netflix deal.
