GUNTHER Vs Seth Rollins Will Be WWE WrestleMania 42 Sleeper Match, Says Big E WWE

Big E has named GUNTHER vs. Seth Rollins as his “sleeper” match at WWE WrestleMania 42, which takes place this weekend.

Taking place on Night One of WWE WrestleMania 42, GUNTHER vs. Seth Rollins has recently been called “a wrestler’s wrestling match” by Cody Rhodes.

Speaking on ESPN Get Up, Big E weighed in on the April 18 match at Allegiant Stadium, saying:

“I would say Seth Rollins and GUNTHER. It’s crazy to think that would be a sleeper match, if you know anything about these two.

“They’re both former World Champions, but because Because of the lack of build and the very quick build, I think a lot of people aren’t as invested in this match – but I think it will be match of the weekend.”

GUNTHER vs. Seth Rollins was added to WrestleMania 42 during the April 6 episode of WWE Raw, which also saw a ladder match added to the card for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

The ‘Very Quick Build’ Of WrestleMania 42

In the weeks running up to WrestleMania 42, injuries and less-than-stellar ticket sales compared to last year’s two-night event at Allegiant Stadium seemingly saw a change of creative plans in WWE. Early February saw a report emerge suggesting ‘internal criticism‘ towards Triple H and the plans of WrestleMania 42, due to these very issues.

It should, perhaps, come as no surprise that with a number of stars seemingly destined for WrestleMania suddenly sidelined due to injury, there has had to be a “very quick build” to fill the two-night WWE Premium Live Event.

Perhaps the most obvious example of this has been the six-man ladder match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, with stars being added to the match based on the result of qualifiers that were never announced as such on Main Event. In that particular match, Rey Mysterio was also announced as an entrant upon his return from injury.

Triple H has addressed the pressures and challenges he has faced on the creative side of WWE going into WrestleMania 42, with more analysis to no doubt follow in the wake of the event this weekend.
