WWE 205 Live Preview – May 15, 2018: The British Are Coming

WWE‘s high-flyers will take to the ring tonight following SmackDown Live, from London, England. Here’s what you can expect from this week’s 205 Live.

205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick announced last week that stars from WWE‘s UK Division would be appearing on this show. He did not give any particular names but told Cedric Alexander to be prepared to fight or team with anybody.

The big question is whether the UK stars will need to be under 205 lbs, or if all are welcome. If it’s the former, only a select few names have a chance of appearing. Mark Andrews and Pete Dunne are the most likely, as Tyler Bate is currently out injured.

It will be interesting to see to what extent the UK talents will be used, but their inclusion should make for a great show.

Tag Team Championships?

During the opening match of last week’s broadcast, Nigel McGuinness mentioned the possibility of Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships being introduced. They’ve been rumored since before WrestleMania 34, but nothing has been officially announced.

Perhaps Nigel’s comments were fed to him through the headset to test the waters. Whatever the case, expect another tag team match this week, along with another tease from commentary.

T-Minus Two Weeks

It was announced online that Buddy Murphy will be rewarded for his recent efforts. Drake Maverick set up a championship match between Murphy and Cedric Alexander for the May 29 edition of 205 Live.

It’s a bit upsetting for the brand that the match is not taking place at a pay-per-view, but fans of the weekly show are in for a treat in two weeks. Expect the proper build to the match to begin tonight.

Since arriving in the Cruiserweight Division, Murphy has run through just about everybody on the roster. In fact, his only loss came against Mustafa Ali, whom he defeated last week. He’s made his intentions very clear over the last few weeks: he wants the title. Alexander, though, is still in the early days of his championship reign.  There are still many more opponents he is yet to face. It will be exciting to see how he fares against his first heel challenger.

205 Live airs on the WWE Network immediately after SmackDown Live.
