During All Elite Wrestling’s “Double or Nothing” rally on Tuesday (January 8), several huge stars such as PAC and Chris Jericho were announced, but one rumoured name was not. Goldberg.
It may seem crazy, but there have been plenty of rumours that William Goldberg could be signing for AEW on some kind of legends deal, and it looks like the interest in Goldberg is very real.
Tony Khan, President and financial backer for AEW, spoke about the rumoured interest on an appearance on X-Pac’s 12360 podcast.
“I have spent some time with Bill, I really like Bill, a lot, and he’s one of the greatest drawing cards ever in the business. He’s a huge star, a household name, and yeah, if the situation was right, obviously. I haven’t agreed to anything with Bill, but I like him a lot.”
Someone’s a bit interested in signing Goldberg…just reading between the lines here.
And he’s not wrong. Getting Goldberg to sign, even for a match once a year would be a huge get for AEW and yet another kick in the gut for WWE, who took 15 years to persuade Bill to return for his feud with Brock Lesnar which saw him win the Universal Championship.
We’ll be keeping you up to date with every rumour and potential AEW signing.
