Spoilers on the plan for the WWE SmackDown debut of Matt Riddle have come to light as he’s set to appear live for the first time on tonight’s show.
According to Fightful Select (subscription required and recommended), Riddle is set to be involved with AJ Styles tonight, who WWE has announced will be holding Intercontinental Championship celebration segment.
It wasn’t said in the report Riddle will be involved in that particular segment, but if he’s going to be involved with Styles that would make sense.
Styles won the Intercontinental Title on last Friday’s episode in the tournament final against Daniel Bryan, which many have hailed as one of the best matches in the company in recent times.
The report also notes the plan beyond introducing Riddle was for him to be in a program with King Corbin.
There were reports going around that WWE had removed Riddle from the website preview of tonight’s show amidst the allegations currently being made against him. Those reports were incorrect and that did not happen, he simply was not in the preview to begin with, but as of this writing, has actually been added.
We will be covering SmackDown later tonight on the site, so stay tuned for that.
