According to a report from PWInsider, there are growing concerns internally over the potential of cross-contamination between brands after the most recent COVID-19 outbreak at The Performance Center. The concerns stem from a segment conducted this past week on Monday Night Raw.
As you probably are aware, the five main members of Retribution revealed themselves on Raw. T-Bar, Mace, and Slapjack were revealed as the men. Meanwhile, Mercedes Martinez and Mia Yim were confirmed as the women on the team. However, they didn’t officially get names.
If you watched the show, you will know there were more than just 5 Retribution members present. There were a number of wrestlers who remained masked during several segments of the show.
Many of the masked men and women were Performance Center trainees and contract NXT talent. While WWE did test people prior to the show, it is likely they were in contact with some of the people who tested positive this past week.
There is the potential for asymptomatic carriers to have worked the show. Because it can take several days before symptoms appear, it’s possible there were people who will begin to display symptoms later or people who will never get sick but could have passed along the virus.
Given the recent positive tests coming both from AEW and WWE, the hope is that everyone on both rosters just stays safe and healthy. However, WWE also has Clash of Champions happening this weekend. It could be a big blow to the show if any of WWE’s performers wind up testing positive prior to the show.
As of the writing of this article, no one who has been booked for the show has been confirmed to have tested positive and there are no reports of this actually happening. However, it doesn’t mean those within WWE don’t have reason to be concerned.
