An All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star has taken to social media to claim that WWE lied about profits in order to have a reason to fire over 300 people.
Jake Hager, who is of course a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion in his own right, responded to a tweet from Stephanie McMahon celebrating WWE picking a ‘Corporation of the Year’ award.
Hager wrote:
Lmao. I guess lying about over 37 million in quarterly profits , so you can fire over 300 people, during a worldwide pandemic is a category for an award? @AndrewYang
To prompt Hager’s response, McMahon had tweeted:
So proud of the @WWECommunity team & all their hard work to make @WWE the 2020 Corporation of the Year at this year’s @PRNews CSR & Nonprofit Awards! WWE’s mission is to put smiles on faces & it could not be done without the hard work & passion of this incredible team!
WWE has been criticised a lot recently for its handling of talent throughout the pandemic for a variety of different reasons.
Andrew Yang, who Hager tagged in his tweet, has said he’ll strive to make things right if Joe Biden is elected as President.
