It was reported yesterday that WWE had signed Japanese wrestling veteran Meiko Satomura, but it seems as if she isn’t the only female wrestling star who is closing to joining Vince McMahon’s promotion.
Yesterday Thunder Rosa dropped the NWA Women’s Championship to Serena Deeb, and Dave Meltzer has taken to Twitter to report that this is likely because both AEW and WWE are interested in bringing Rosa into their respective companies:
Serena Deeb of AEW (sorry) won the NWA women’s title from Thunder Rosa tonight. We did hear about this likely happening and that both WWE & AEW had interest in her
While Meltzer’s tweet doesn’t suggest that Thunder Rosa is closer to signing with WWE over AEW or vice versa, many on social media have speculated that Rosa’s future lies with Vince McMahon’s company.
This comes after AEW announced that Serena Deeb will defend her NWA Women’s Championship on Dynamite tonight. This means that Rosa likely wouldn’t have had to drop the title to sign with AEW, as Deeb is under contract with the promotion.
At this time, no one is reporting that Thunder Rosa is definitely signing with WWE. However, based on the events of yesterday, it certainly would make sense to see the former NWA Women’s Champion in WWE before too long.
If true, then Thunder Rosa will not be the only person to have accepted a WWE offer instead of one from AEW. This comes after it was reported that a young British star has turned down offers from AEW to sign with WWE.
