Of the many dream matches that exist in wrestling, one that fans have always talked about has been The Undertaker vs. Sting. The two veterans almost never been in the same company at the same time, only competing on the same card a handful of times.
Now, Dave Meltzer has reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Sting had wanted to have a cinematic match with The Undertaker. However, it was not a match that appealed to Vince McMahon. Here is the quote:
“Still it is known Sting wanted to do a Cinematic match with Undertaker, and for whatever reason, while fans have clamored for Undertaker vs. Sting for years, it has never been a match that appealed to McMahon.”
Of course, this match won’t happen now. The Undertaker appears to be retired for real this time after his Final Farewell at Survivor Series. Meanwhile, Sting’s appearance on AEW Dynamite likely means he isn’t showing up on WWE TV any time soon.
The Undertaker has said he did not want to extend his career through just cinematic matches, however. It is unclear if that played a role in a possible match with Sting not happening.
