Following Money in the Bank, it was reported by PWInsider that Naomi had been moved to SmackDown from Raw, and while the move has been made official on WWE.com, she is yet to appear on her new brand since the swap.
While it was assumed the reason for the swap was that she could have the same touring schedule as husband Jimmy Uso, who became SmackDown tag champion with brother Jey at Money in the Bank, the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting another reason.
While WWE does like to have couples on the same brand, the new report is the move was made to strengthen SmackDown’s women’s division, which following the release of both Chelsea Green and Ruby Riott was left with just nine active stars.
Since then, Shotzi Blackheart, Tegan Nox, and Toni Storm have been called up from NXT, and Zelina Vega was brought back into the company, having been fired last year.
It isn’t clear what creative plans WWE has for Naomi, but hopefully they won’t just put her in a random tag team with her new “best friend”.
