It is reportedly believed to be “a lock” that Ric Flair will be heading to AEW once his WWE non-compete clause expires following his release.
Flair was let go by WWE last week after seemingly giving Vince McMahon an ultimatum to either fix his daughter Charlotte Flair’s booking, or he was going to leave.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer writes: “While nothing has been announced, the word going around is that it seems to be a lock Ric Flair will be headed here when he is legally able”.
Flair would be the latest on a list of big-time pickups for AEW, if the reports and teases that CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are also heading to the promotion are true.
Ric Flair and Tony Khan are already good friends, and two of the other Four Horsemen are currently in AEW, as well as Charlotte’s fiancé Andrade El Idolo, so Flair signing wouldn’t be as big of a surprise as it may seem on the surface.
