Having wrestled a few young names already, CM Punk has revealed three young AEW stars who he believes are “the future”.
Out of CM Punk’s five AEW opponents so far, you can look at Darby Allin, Powerhouse Hobbs and Daniel Garcia who really are young in their careers and seem to have a bright future ahead, and it certainly appears that Punk is trying to help that future and development along in his matches with them.
Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Punk gave three names to look out for, two of which he’s already faced, and one that he hasn’t. He said:
“I think Dante Martin is a name that pops up if you ask me who is impressive. I mean, this is a guy who reminds me of the first time I saw Rey Mysterio in around 1995. Powerhouse Hobbs is a guy who I think is impressive. These are two guys who I think are the future. Darby Allin is a big one. He’s just scratching the surface of what he’s going to wind up meaning to the company.”
Punk has yet to face Martin, but Malakai Black, who beat the 20-year-old recently, said he specifically requested the match because he also sees a bright future in him.
CM Punk’s next opponent will be Eddie Kingston tomorrow night at AEW Full Gear.
