In September, it was reported that WWE was considering making NXT 2.0 an edgier product. As per WrestleVotes, NXT 2.0 shifting from TV-PG to TV-14 was always an idea within the origins of the reboot.
WrestleVotes also states that USA Network are not opposed to the shift in content, taking to Twitter to note:
“Within the origins of this NXT 2.0 concept was an idea that the programs rating would shift from TV-PG to TV-14. Source confirms that’s still very much on the table and USA Network is not opposed. If / when WWE decides to make the change is TBD.”
NXT 2.0 has covered more adult themes in recent months, notably with the Dexter Lumis & Indi Hartwell relationship and honeymoon angles.
Last Tuesdays edition of NXT 2.0 scored the lowest viewership since the brand’s reboot, drawing 603,000 viewers, with a 0.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
